promax vs drag 4 comparison.
Hi looking for opinions and knowledge about props before spending money foolishly. I have a 96 Liberator 21 foot with a 2013 300xs with 1.75 sportmaster and a 12" slidemaster jack plate. the motor is set at 1" above the pad and running a 31 pitch promax. Boat runs 97mph on gps. I know Randy Corson runs Drag 4's on his and was wondering if there is a big difference in performance between the Promax and Drag 4's either out of the hole, midrange or top end. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I ran both on my Talon. My 31 lab Pro max comes out of the hole slower that the 30 Drag 4 but that is the difference in Thru Hub and over hub props. I could run the ProMax higher on the jack plate before I would blow out.

I have a 2008 Lib 21 with a 300xs. My L/U is a 1.62.
I have tries a bunch of props and the best I've been able to get is
Merc Trophy Plus 28p 6100 rpm @ 85 mph
Merc Lightning ET 30p 5800 rpm @ 93 mph
Drag 5 30p 5700 rpm @ 88 mph
Ron Hill Signature Eagle 28p 6300 @ 90
Promax 29p 5800 @ 92
I'm about an inch and a half above the pad. This is with full gear and gas, 2 batteries, one person. Makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong.\\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\/// \\\///

Thanks to LARGECAR91 and TRACEF3 for your input. I guess for now I will save my money. I was going to buy a Drag 4.

I really struggled with the Drag 4 on my Liberator with 300X when I had it. I ran short lakes or rivers with turns and I would have to slow down to 70 to get it to turn sharp. I ran an RE4 on that boat and it would turn in the 90's.
I'm a huge Promax fan now. I have 3 for my current boat. I would loved to have tried one on the liberator.Allison XB21 2+2

This past weekend I was at Clark’s hill lake for the rally and I turned 6000 rpm and achieved a new top speed of 99.0 on gps. With a very slight nose up trim. Trim value didn’t change on my Smartcraft gauge just 2 quick bumps up.
