Is anyone else than the owner operating the boats?

I remember riding a VW van bad dirt roads in the north of Sweden, heading to a hotel. The owner drove slowly and avoided the potholes. He couldn't understand why his van broke down all the times, and why the windows developed cracks.

On our way back, we rode with his employee. Average speed was probably twice as high, and the driver just powered through the potholes.

Could something similar be going on here? That Yamaha 225 did not live very long either...

Problem is he charges about as much as a new set of wiseos. Pins don’t come out and domes don’t crack.

It used to be $50 per piston.

I sent him 36 pistons at a time it was a bit cheaper then that plus shipping clear across the country. Meanwhile for $70 you could have a new forged wiseco ceramic coated the pins don’t come out, skirts don’t crack and the domes don’t split down the middle. We have put them in factory bores and turned them 7k with 10mins on fresh Powerhead with no issue. The seizeco days are over they have it figured out.

1.5 point loss every 30 days, that is scary stuff.

I always try and fill up the day I am going out. Is there any additive that you like to prevent or at least slow the octane loss?

Up here you have a better chance of seeing Jesus Christ out on the Sound than getting race fuel anywhere.

I work for a major refiner and buy at least 89 for engines that need 87. There is little margin for error with such heavily loaded engines. A few extra cents per litre or gallon for recreational boaters is way cheaper than a rebuild (including the “cost” of vacations ruined by blowing up the family boat motor).
