22 Liberator with Mercury 450R is complete!!

I just finished this new 22 Liberator with the new Mercury 450R Supercharged V* motor. Hoping to run over 130 mph. I don't have my 38" Hill cleaver yet, but I'll try a 34" to test. Should hit the limiter around 120-122. I'll try today if the rain holds off. Liberatorpowerboats.com

A 450 HP motor on a 22' boat! What's next, a nuclear reactor? That's going to take some equally huge round things that dangle to drive!

Well, I ran it with the 34" prop. It was very windy so I had to keep backing out of it. I got it to the limiter at 120 but the GPS locked in 119. Short video will follow. Kind of hard driving with one hand in choppy water though.

Here's a short video. Kind of hard to hold the camera and drive in bumpy water!

Nine miles an hour faster then a 400R on the same hull is dam impressive for conditions that don't favor this boat (shows you what torque is capable of). Motor was solid as a rock on that bracket. I have some good video of it that I will put up when I get back from LOTO shootout.

Wildman I think 120 is impressive and seems like it gets there pretty quick. The 34 could be called "your acceleration prop!" Great job on the paint and rigging!

Randy what was your impression of the motor over the 400R or the 300R.

To be honest many are seeing performance out of the 300R that is damn close to what was seen with the 400R. It pretty much proves what a turd the 400R really is on the small, light boat applications.

No doubt the 450R is a beast but we now are approaching the point where the small cats will start killing people, just like the 150+ mph big cats have.

An interesting application would be 1 450R on a 24’-26’ cat but when you consider you can buy 2 300Rs for the price of 1 450R it becomes a challenge justifying it.

Nice video. What lake you test on? Nice to have a lake long enough to get up to speed & back down.
