Good friend mine (met in our winter Ski club decades ago) has done the Catilina Ski race a few times, SoCal. 52 miles, 26 there and back, triple digits speed, ocean waves and it GRUELING! Gotta have REALLY strong legs! So we got our own crazies here too!

Skiing at that speed is pretty amazing. Falling at that speed is another matter all together. What's the spotter do, announce that there's now raw meat on the course? And I'm assuming turning around to pick up the fallen skier is relatively pointless. No thanks.

These guys are the best of the best and FAR from recreational skiers at 35 mph. And you MUST have a spotter as its the law. Theres Dare Devils in every sport, but I damn sure aint one of them!

Yeah, but ever have a mirror scream at ya.."he's Down"! Take the spotter, yer GF or his as will look in the mirror anyway, but anything in a bikini has me looking else where, so ya got a point!

But also looking either forwards or back alone is not constant, so either hit a "floater" looking back, or lose a skier looking forward.......(and then the cell phone rang)..............

Then theres this crazy Aussie ..
Built in Auistralia in 1982 by Lucky Keizer, this 5,000cc v-twin utilizes 2 cylinders from a Rolls Royce Merlin 27-liter v12 engine found in an abandoned Mustang fighter plane. Keizer added nitrous injection and a supercharger
