ID:	446830OK fellow Speedsters. He it goes, Ive got a 24 skater with 2.4 EFI Bridgeport's Offshore mids. I've owned the boat since 95. I have Sheared the water pickup tube in the mid twice now one on each motor. The last time was probably 3 years ago but maybe only ten hours or so of run time. Its 1/2 copper and it breaks clean about at the halfway point. No one I have talked to has ever heard of it happening and I know a lot of people in the performance boating industry. The first time it happened I chalked it up to a defect. But now I believe its a harmonics thing. Anyone else ever had this happen??

Object's in motion tend to remain in motion, unless acted on by an equal or greater force........that's when the jig is up!!

I've never seen it or heard of it happening . I suppose we could guess what it might be all day long ??? Is it breaking above or below where the exhaust exits the tuner pipe ? hf...

I’d try an elastomer on it. Some rubber hose heat shrinked around most of it. If you get a slightly too tight hose and split it and then using a quality heat shrink to wrap it down tight that will add strength and if it’s a vibration related issue that should cure it

I've broken on and split one down the seam on the old ridge back. I took some heater hose and pushed the tube through it leaving a few inches on either end. I've seen it on a couple big block Yamahas too.

I’m going to try blue copper pipe, it’s a thicker wall than the red which seems to be what mercury uses.good idea on heat shrinking around it, should absorb vibration. Luckily I monitor gauges and have caught it both times before I smoked a motor.
