Intentional wreck in Florida!!! What to do now??
I will keep this short as i can. Me and the Faimly were headed to the keys from SC pulling a 21 ft Grady white loaded down. Wet roads (not Raining) running down the turnpike coming into Miami 5 cars on the road i was following a Ford Fusion respectable distance. We had been running together for a few miles we moved into the left lane to pass a box truck and as soon as i got beside the truck the guy in the fusion out of the blue locked his brakes up.... well now he has a totaled fusion and i have a ticket and bent bumper on the 2500 ram. I feel like it was intentional as there was nothing in front of him and he told the officer that he never hit the brakes i just came up behind him and rammed him out of the blue. Officer said he knows what is going on but has no option but to charge me with careless driving. I get it, I couldn’t stop, and should of left more room but anyway i am looking for where to proceed from here. When i got home from the keys i had several pieces of mail from lawyers in fl to handle the ticket.
Btw the guy was driving on a suspended license he didn’t know about so they impounded his car on the site.
i was looking for any advice from the Florida guys do i just pay the ticket or call one of these Laywer adds i got in the mail?

Intentional or not - you've got no choice but to pay the ticket. Hit from behind is the most clear-cut insurance claim out there. Even if you had a dash cam - a driver in front of you is allowed to slam on the brakes. YOu are responsible from behind to leave enough space to stop in an emergency.

I'm not sure I agree with "allowed to slam on brakes". Brake checking can and has caused fatalities. Several years ago a angry girl brake checked another vehicle and the result was a dead toddler in the car behind. Brake checking is illegal

Looks like the asshole got what he deserved.

Call the ticket clinic. I have used them several times for "heavy foot" violations, once for an accident that we were both ticketed and they have never let me down. They have offices all over the state and will represent most cases. The county just wants the fine and court cost which is no big deal-the points and record are what I don't want.

Hopefully nobody with you was hurt. I would be expecting the guy you hit to have severe case of whiplash, just standard procedure.
And for what it is worth, I would call everyone of those lawyers that sent you something and ask questions about him suing you and take notes as to what they say. As far as the ticket, that will be the least of your worries but still is an issue, obviously.

Sucks to hear. Even if they slammed on the brakes, without proof, it's your word against theirs. Get a dash cam. Every vehicle I have has one. When society thinks the answers to their money problems is to screw and sue the guy with nice stuff, it's your only defense.

to me it seems if he was driving on a suspended license he should have not have even been there, much like someone that has been drinking should not even be behind the wheel and whatever happens is automatically their fault. you will need an attorney from the area it occurred in to go to court for you and you will have to appear, if he doesn't show you can have the case dismissed.

Thanks for all the responses. i know i have to pay the ticket, just curious on the how to pay ie just pay it or get a attorney to handle it. But part of my questions have been answered, today I received a notice that i am being sued by him because he is now all of the sudden hurt. Soo now i guess its time to make a few calls.
And yes a dash cam will be in my near future...

"Careless driving" is NOT what you did (my Brother ran a INS firm). It should have been for "Following to closely" "Careless" is serious chit, get a lawyer NOW. Sorry this happened, but you need that careless reduced to following to close, and thats lawyers work to do as you can't (I know, court system sucks, been there a few times and lawyer needed) And being a out of resident state accident damn sure won't help. Wish the best.
