OB Not for Sale Any More (@ least for now)
I had posted in the classified my Merc OB for sale...but I found out the lower was SEI and was junk, crack gearcase.
After shopping around for one, NOT SEI. OEM is expensive, REALLY EXPENSIVE!
The mechanic that got my OB running sweet told me to call his buddy.... which I did.. I pick up a lower for OEM for $400,
Only problem is a 20"drive, I need 25". Was going to buy a new driveshaft but came across driveshaft extension and look into this.
I brought one.
I had several people inquire about my OB for sale, I'm just glad I didn't sale it with a junk lower.
Some of you had seen some of my pic from my boat build so I'll share some photos.
Still waiting on fuel tank parts so I haven't run it yet.
I really wanted to see how it sit in the water.
Water is coming over the back just a little, but motor is trimmed back about half way, nobody inside and no fuel no one board.
Battery placement is up front under the cowling.
Will see how this work out with the weight of this ob before I attempt to sale again.
6 and a half years I waited for this moment!!
If you think this is fun, wait til next weekend!

besides the driveshaft extention, you will also need the shift shaft extention, water pressure hose and the spacer. Make sure you have a very, very good bilge pump. Wishing you the best!

He already has a 25" mid. So everything is the correct length. Lower is a 20" so he just needs a longer driveshaft

Thank you Radiant, I couldn't have said THAT better.
I received my extension today and installed....Worked prefect, but getting the shift connector back in place was a PITA!
Ill gease up the gearcase tomorrow, install the prop, I got all my part now for the fuel tank, just a little bit of wiring left then to the lake Sunday.
BTW, I brought the extension from Bay manufacturing in Milan, Ohio. very nicely done shaft.
Kinda pricey, but better then buying and installing a new/used drivelineIf you think this is fun, wait til next weekend!
