Michael, I don’t remember the actual clearance btw reeds and crank, but if my memory serves me right, you can run both stuffers and a shaved mainfold. The problem is the angle of the reedcages. If you want to move them really close to the crank, i think you better cut the reedcages at an angle otherwise they will tend to hit the roof of the intake runner, especially on no1. To be sure, I need to check if I have written down any measurements.
Why don’t you try cut 3petal cages? I think CCMS offers them to fit the Looper!? I have wanted to try for myself, but I haven’t gone there yet, mainly because if the low rpms I am turning. On the other hand, I have done so much stuffing that I fear the wider leafs w/o support could cave in due to increased pressure!?

Curious what the measurements are if you have them..
I'll stick with what i have don't want to start something else enough going on and they are put together I have boyesen reeds installed and between milling front half and the stuffing I did already think I'm good for now..
Don't really want to push it with cutting reed cages etc.
Im just hoping to get them back together while I can..

    CCM Stuffers For Loopers

I emailed CCM about the stuffers for 1989 Loopers..they dont make them for those engines... Guess you would have to go with the milling instead...
I am about to go out and test the '86 2.7 Heads on my 1989 225. Compression on it before was about 85...will let you know after the install. Thanks
for the tip on the head gaskets.. Didnt know the later ones were thinner... Will try that too.. I've seen so many different ideas on the jetting of teh carbs
when doin the head swap..some say you dont need it other do.. I will try them if I can dig up some jets...try it both ways. Thanks for the input!

You have to call Chris. He has them just not sure he's selling them on site...you actually only need 5
I didn't use them because mine are milled already and don't have the clearance
Captain75 has them in his motor..

Why would they say they dont have them in an email? I asked through their Ebay site.. I told them I bought 2 sets of the Reeds for my '86 200 XP and an'89 225. Stupid question, but couldnt you also double up the gasket or make these yourself out of a thick plastic? Doesnt look that complicated...

As Michael stated, I run Chris’s stuffers in my Closed deck Looper. I run an early (-86/87) intake mainfold and when you do that you need to trim the CCMS stuffers to fit. You need to buy the stuffers intended to go with the later, diamond-shaped mainfolds an then trim them to fit. I guess the reason why Chris is not offering the stuffers for the earlier year intakes is because the casting between different mainfolds differ so much that you can’t claim ”plug and play”. However, It is easy to make them fit, and the effect makes it well worth the effort!
Call Chris and Go for it

What's the difference between an 86 87 intake and an 89? They are the same part number, aren't they? Or do you mean the later ones like 93 and up?

The plastic carbs are great if you understand youre runnning a screw into plastic and not aluminum, and you learn how to tune them.

Send all junk, late model plastic 225 carbs to me.
    Ill pay shipping.

    They suck!

I believe Chris’s stuffers are made to fit the diamond shaped intakes. If you view my thread ”Looper exhaust porting”, and look at page 48, you have some pics covering the topic.
