    Is this block garbage?

Hi everybody, I have a 99' mercury 175hp efi. The #6 piston seized and broke the rod, then beat the cylinder bad. I assume the block is ruined but I included pics to get a 2nd opinion. Can I swap my internals into another block, the rest of the engine looks good except #6 but i haven't pulled it all the way apart and inspected everything yet. I'm new to building 2 strokes so i guess what I am asking is if I can locate a good 175hp block is there any extra machining/matching that has to be done to swap my internals other than regular work like cleaning and honing cylinders?

The lower half of the sleeve was beat out of the cylinder and yes the block got damaged also. I was wondering if the damaged aluminum in the port areas could be welded up and machined back to specs and a new sleeve put in. Not sure if anybody does this or if it would just be too costly.

imo, you would be better off finding another block. There's a bunch of those 150/175 idle relief motors around, an undamaged block should'nt be hard to locate, although you may have to bore&hone, or resleeve. A weld repair on on of those blocks just does'nt seem worth doing, unless you do it yourself, which is not a simple fix by any means!

    I also have a 1999 175 block that lost #3 rod bearing.
Rod never left crank as I shut it down as soon as it rattled.
It is completely taken apart as I wanted to inspect it. Was
a fresh water engine only. If anyone wants it I can txt pictures.
