how many versions of the new mercury V8 are there?
how many models of the 250/300 v8 are there?
base 4 stroke, sea pro, pro xs, and 250/300R correct?
where can I find the tq and hp numbers for these engines?
Im ready to put new engines on my 32 manta cc, the boat will spend most of its time hauling 22 passengers to and from Cartagena to my island hotel. I worry that when im running the boat with just my friends will I need low water pick ups? The 300 evinrudes I took off had low water pickups.
i read the sea pro lower units to will
last 3 times as long as the other Lowers merc offers so is that equipped with the 5.44” torque master lower? Is that avail with low water pick up? Or are only the sportmaster and pro xs lower avail with the low water pick up? Thanks in advance for any into, Rm

The seapro is geared towards comercial use and only has a 2 year warranty (instead of the typical 1 year comercial warrenty)
Standard 4 strokes or pro XSs get my vote.

Here’s the numbers that Mercury gave to the government for emission’s purpose, I would imagine it’s pretty accurate given the diesel gate scandal.
https://ww3.arb.ca.gov/msprog/offroa...w-001-0490.pdf
If talking about the 300hp models the Sea Pro is only available with the 5.44” gearcase and has a lower rpm to help with longevity and therefore it doesn’t make as much hp as the 300 ProXS which doesn’t make as much as the 300R. The 300R shifts torque and hp up ~500rpms which wouldn’t be ideal in a heavier boat. Though it has the option for the Sportmaster gearcase if you’re planning to run over 85mph. Otherwise your best bang for the buck I think would be 250 proxs which makes the same hp/tq as the 250R and ironically the 300 Sea Pro according to the above report as well as has 200rpm higher limiter than regular 4-stroke. The Pro xs also comes with torque master if you can get away with a 20” shaft that has low water pickups in the nose cose, hope that helps.Last edited by PRE-Z06; 08-03-2019 at 09:12 PM.

I wonder how long the wait is for the 300 R at this point. Assuming you can get a 300 Pro XS pretty much right away.

I guess the 300 ProXS is harder to get than a 300 R

Looks like the total weight of a 250R and a 300R are almost identical.
