1990 Gambler 206SS Super Sport and 2.5L Mercury with Offshore Ridgeback
SOLD
Selling a Gambler 206SS Super Sport and 2.5L Mercury offshore outboard. Gambler is most known for high quality / high performance bass boats. In the early 90's, the factory made a limited number of super sport models for a period of 5 years and this is a great representation of one of them. See specifications below...
Specifications:
- 1990 Gambler 206SS, 20.6’ boat with Ameritrail tandem axle trailer
- Mercury 2.5L outboard motor with factory lightweight race cowl.
- Slide intake system with promax laser fuel injection.
- Bosch fuel pump with 39psi fuel regulator.
- Merc 2.5L 260 porting with mild cut heads for premium pump gas (work performed by Jim Ruck from Oshkosh, WI…former Mercury Marine machinist)
- Top pinned pistons
- 5 pedal reeds
- 1" aluminum intake spacer
- 16 amp lightweight flywheel
- Brucato PCU EFI computer, remote mount, comes with adjustable steam wheel for changing fuel curve mixture
- Offshore single ram clamp
- Offshore ”Ridgeback” midsection with 1 piece exhaust adapter plate
- Mercury gearcase with Bob’s Machine Shop nose cone and integral low water pickup, Merc heavy duty CLE internals and torque tab (all welded...not an epoxy installation)
- Digitron gauge with EGTs (like new)
- Electric fuel pressure sending unit and gauge (like new)
- New Teleflex 8K tachometer
- 5.5" CMC high-speed hydraulic jack plate and gauge (like new)
- High speed 12 volt trim pump (like new)
- Factory installed Gambler foot throttle
- Factory installed trim buttons on the floor
- Battery isolation switch
- Ameritrail tandem axle trailer with brakes
- Fulton swing-away tongue (has a surge brake connection but currently not hooked up)
- Like new Firestone tires with new spare
- Lights in good working condition
- Factory Stainless steel ski tripod
- Factory Gambler boat cover and separate engine cover; (good for storage, canvas)
- Factory original stern light
- Gelcoat in good condition for its age. The hull/floor is solid and boat is very well built
Other...
- Trim gauge doesn't read properly. The trim gauge is new so I'm including (2) new Mercury O/S trim sending units with the sale
- Rear seat cushion (removable) could use some rework as the stitching ripped at the seams in the middle. Top of rear seat back also has some wear around the upper corner piping. All other interior is in good condition for its age.
- Lightweight factory race cowl has some of the typical bubbling in the plastic similar to most that I've seen of that style.
- Trailer has some surface rust from rock chips and a few dings but overall is in good condition. Bearings are good and trailer pulls well.
Extras included with the sale…
Mercury Premium 2 stroke oil, spare/new water pump impeller, spare/new HP Aeromotive fuel filter (before pump), spare/new fuel filter (after pump), 2 boxes of NGK BR9HS10 Spark Plugs, 3 white buoys, fire extinguisher, air horn, original trailer tongue with Fulton swing-away attachment, new/spare trailer side marker lights (orange and red), Shockeze trailer/outboard transom support arm for towing, lower unit flush attachment for coned LWP and other miscellaneous spare stuff that goes with boat.
- Boat has run 83 mph (GPS) with a light load; very stable and capable of going a bit faster with additional set up and seat time. No expenses spared...good running, reliable motor with about 55 hours run time since build. I have owned the boat for about 14 years and only selling because I no longer have time to use it.

Surprising performance from a boat not very well known.

Very cool rig.
Very difficult these days to find/buy/own something different.
Everything has been done, w/more money that any of us will ever have.
Here you can spend $11,500 and show up at the ramp knowing there won’t be 3 other identical rigs pimped out better than yours.
Way cool rig!I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Thanks for the post tpd321. I remember seeing a couple Gambler and Allison bass boats on display at a Mercury High Performance dealer in central WI years ago. The boats looked fast sitting in the showroom. Didn't know Gambler made the SS model until I came across this this one and the rest is history. Very cool and well built as you mentioned.
Still available...
