I'm not a yamaha dealer so we dont do it. From what I gather its treated like a warrenty item. So you wouldnt get money from the parts but you get paid a flat rate.

I think it's worth pointing out that there's a reason why there are long lead times on these new mercs. They can't make these fast enough to keep up with the demand, despite increasing production capacity. I'm not sure why people are questioning where the market is for these when this is the case. The new V6/V8's were released May 2018, and there's still a long lead time. I've heard the 450R's are in a similar boat as well.

Reading through this thread, I see a lot of references to the expensive offshore center console boats with multiple engines on them. While that might make up a large portion of the market for these engines, there are others out there. For example, the pontoon boat industry has absolutely taken off recently. Here in the midwest there are a lot of them. They are all largely outboard now, I see maybe 1 sterndrive for every 50+ outboard pontoons. For those buying these pontoons, they likely want a quiet motor, that doesn't make a bunch of bubbles at idle, can run on 87, doesn't vibrate a lot, looks modern, etc. And these new V6/V8 fourstrokes fit that bill nicely.

That being said, I think there are some markets that these will struggle to get into. For example, I think tow sports will largely remain inboard and sterndrive powered for obvious reasons.

The points regarding the pricing is fair, they are quite costly. But what hasn't become costly? A new ski boat is $100k, wakeboard boats are in excess of $150k, as are some pontoons. Hell pickup trucks are over $100k if you get a F450 platinum. I don't think this is solely a marine market trend

    Just my $0.02

The G2 is a torque monster. But so are the newest 4 strokes on the market. I'd love to see the old tug of war teat redone! Could be interesting

What BRP built 4 stroke outboards are out there? Last I heard they where rebadged Suzuki's. This has been a while back though. Have they started making there own yet?
BRP makes four strokes for their sea doo, ski Doo and rotax line of engines. They make a four stroke super charged 3 cyl that makes 300 HP. https://www.rotax.com/en/products/ro...-1630-ace.html

They choose the two stroke for marine for several reasons. I'm a fan of both. Having the choice as a consumer is great.

I'd probably go with the 225 V6 as well. Lighter is better!

Yes they do. But put that 300hp 4 stroke behind some weight. It wont work on an outboard.
