    TPS adjustment?

I have seen it on here before, but couldn't find it again. Can someone post up the TPS check and adjustment procedure on a 96 200 EFI?

With my limited search skills I was able to find this:

    https://www.screamandfly.com/showthr...200+tps+adjust

Not sure if that is of any use to you, but it is the best I could come up with.
A while back somebody posted how to use the search function properly. I wish I would have bookmarked it.

Use the Merc tool 91-816085, disconnect the 2 tan/blk temp sensor wires on port side temp sensor. Turn key on rotate sensor fully clockwise with throttle closed, adjust to .240- .260v. Slowly open throttle to wide open voltage should change smoothly and be around 7.46v at wide open. Never seem to get the exact wide open value the say but over 7v should be good.

Thanks for the info Dave and minnow. The thread I was looking for was for the shade tree mechanic version where you use small stiff wires stuck into the plug. But with the correct number values I should be able to figure it out. I kept getting results where it may have been buried in the middle of 20 posts, but made no reference to it in the title.

Got er dun... Used small stiff wires to get into the connectors at the wire entrance. Hooked up meter with alligator clips to blue and tan wires Pulled the temp wires and got .220. Reset to .250 Got .726 at wot. Was wondering, Is a lower number setting going leaner? Or richer? Man those things are touchy. Just turning the screws would change it.

Yes lower number leaner, the say you can go as high as .260.

I never have adj. tps on this one. But it got decent fuel economy. 3-4 mpg on my stream. When I saw it was on the low side it made me wonder. What's the lowest number you can go if you know.

    Hope that’s 7.26 not .726 at wot.

Closer to .260 will keep you running if theirs a blip in voltage or a stiff shift or burry the relief backing up. Some say easier starts when cool never really say that though.

Yes, 7.26 Thank's for the info guys. Heading out in an hr to go fishing. Will see how it runs. Should run better since it was off by .20 at least. It did stall some when idling on the stream , and was not happy when it was cold at startup. Ran good on the hose yesterday. No stalling...Fired right up. Re-timed to 23 deg. from 25 and put stock heads back on. It's a fishing motor now, pushing my flats boat.
