    Midsection Swap

What is involved in removing a 25" mid and installing a 20"?
I've done a little research..but common sense tell me if your putting a shorter part on than all parts involved
    need to be shorter too.

    *Mid
*Drive line (from PH to gear case)
    *shift rod
    *lower/upper?? motor mounts
    *gear case???
*if lower M/mounts need changed, then the pivot tube (i think that what its called) would have to be shorter too.

Assuming I can find a 20", what is involved mechanically doing this myself??
Did I miss anything other then the bloody knuckles?

Shelve the 3.0 for a bigger boat........you can build a 22 foot V bottom as your next project.... buy a 3 cly 90 yammi and learn how to drive that boat.... then up /grade. I had a buddy.... bought Rick addamzacks First tunnel boat........was a very fast boat.....when Rick raced it. A nodda man told us to race a flatbottom in the ocean before running the tunnel......That man was right......His name....Walter Werner.Snr...My buddy had the fastest boat for 3 days,,,, on the third he blew it over. You will spend too much time swapping out the 3.0 and it will still be too big..... The same $$$ spent on the more user friendly motor....... But why ask??????

I tend to agree here. Maybe not quite as small as a 90, but probably much better off with a lighter and shorter motor in ALL RESPECTS. Even money wise. Buy something more suitable for your hull, and sell the 3.0 and get most/all of your money back.

But, I would get lots of help here on what would be the best motor BEFORE you buy.

That would have saved you a lot of trouble in the first place.

Keep the 3.0 for a future boat, or sell it. But buy a lighter and shorter motor for your tunnel. Smaller and lighter doesn't always mean less horsepower, it's up to you.

Smart, and whatever motor you think you want to buy I would definitely ask for an opinion here from the group before you buy it.

"Good luck, we're all counting on you (from the movie Airplane)".
