My dad knew him from when he was messing with roundy round boats. Cant remember all he told me but always said the Triton's would run. Later on (prolly 15 years ago) I helped set up SDBA and CSDBA courses and saw a guy running a stripped down triton bass boat in the 1/4.

Probably the biggest difference is the front deck, they narrowed it back up on the caymas, where the latter year tritons had a super wide flipping deck. As a personal note my own beliefs are that the newer boats are being designed around the four strokes now, (I hope etech stays 2 myself) but only an opinion I guess

THe build quality on some of the Triton bay boats that I worked on was so-so. Lot of unexplained spider cracking and cracks on strakes running full length. Design was great, build left something to be desired. And these boats did not have lightweight hulls or decks. If they keep the build quality high then they will sell all they can build. Bass boat guys are real particular about their rigs and won't tolerate any defects on a new boat. And they won't tolerate being out performed by a similar powered rig. It's an ego thing I guess.
