    Converting 2006 25 inch 250XS to 20 inch

Could someone tell me what is needed to convert a 25 inch lower to a 20 inch lower. I am purchasing a 25 inch that has a coupler and 5 inch spacer. Think I need new studs no idea of parts number.

I'm sure you'll get lots of 411 on this but I looked at doing the same thing last year and turned away from the idea. The l/u has to be taken apart to change the main shaft (5" shorter). If the coupler you are referring to is a 5" shaft extension then it's going to be much easier and cheaper. You'll also have a 5" shift extension and a 5" water tube extension in there.

    Good luck!

Not clear if you have a 25 inch with a 5 inch spacer making motor now a 30 inch setup. If it is 25 inch with spacer included i think you just remove the added parts that were put on a 20 inch motor. If it started as a 25 inch. It is not cost effective to buy a complete 20 inch mid for it. Another consideration is if motor started as a 25 inch when new. Motor will be a 5800 rpm pcm. 20 inch 250xs will be 6400 pcm.

Started life as a 20 inch. Added coupler and spacer to make it a 25. Trying to find parts number for stud kit.
