No problem with the cost as it's under warranty. One more piece of data - the voltage does not change with an increase in RPM. Also it surges once I hit 2200 rpm or so. Didn't get to check for voltage at the alternator as I had to spend the day floating my little boat after last nights storm.

If it's under warranty the last thing you should do is mess with it yourself.. Take it to the dealer and drop it off........

I fix most all of my own crap, too. More than a few electric items can be " fixed " if taken apart, inspected, cleaned, serviced and reassembled. Electric switches, power window motors, starters, alternators, all that stuff if your willing and adventurous.
I love how lots of starter brushes can be flipped upside down if you're careful. Clean armature, light oil on screw gear for Bendix.......BAM!........"GHETTO REBUILD"
Just for my own stuff and to compression test unknown possible purchases.

Agree with all except for flipping brushes. It costs more in bill-able time to flip then replace when it comes to cost benefit. We live in a disposable society where people rarely even think that a part can be rebuilt compared to replaced. But this is coming from a guy that has 'rebuilt' a transmission because they are not available to 'drop' in. And that was after paying the local 'expert' that messed it up worse then when I brought it to him.

The charging system on these are pretty reliable, not saying something cant go wrong but its rare. Take it to the dealer, let them swap the alt. And move on

Just for my own personal stuff. I won't do for others . Saves down time, trip to the store or dealer, special order charges, or time in the mail system.

I took off the plastic flywheel cover to try and find a fuze by the alternator and lo and behold the belt from the flywheel to the alternator looked like spaghetti. Guess a new belt might charge the battery
