    1986 28' Ghost w/Merc 2.5L EFI 200's

Painful post to write but I just don't have the time to use the boat my father built by hand which still has the complete original cabin in very good condition. It has a pair of late 90's 2.5L EFI 200 Mercs with aftermarket alien cowls that I run with 26" choppers. It touches 70mph with 1/4 fuel (108 gallon tank) but its a consistent 68-69mph @ 5800 (exhausts are currently closed). 24 choppers are probably the right props to run and rev higher but I just didn't run it that way. Maintained by my uncle at K&K the last 2 seasons so the motors are running right. No bottom paint and the boat has been fork lifted in and out after every use for the last 2 years and was trailer kept by previous owner. Before me the boat was run in freshwater for 10-15 years. Boat has a custom wrap over the original maroon gelcoat. I installed a brand new Fusion 650 head unit last year. New cockpit cover and an older full cover which is aged but does the job.

A pair of 250-300 Mercs would be interesting to see what someone can do with this hull. To give an idea on speed potentials, this boat did 87mph with 2.5 280's. For those who don't know the hull, it was designed specifically for offshore racing (4 world championships 1984 to 1987). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TqhnGFObG8&t=176s

Package is turn key with brand new cockpit cover, full cover, pair of 26" choppers, and bunk trailer. Asking $24,999. Boat is located at K&K Outboard call/text 516-225-1844.

The brothers suprised a lot ppl in the race circuit with their boats. Love watching their boats in action on yt. Could only imagine twin 300s, would easily out perform any other hull made in its time

The only V bottom to ever beat them was a 28 checkmate Wild Bills Express who had a nice bump of HP since modified motors were permitted in that race (K&K left stock). Of course the production boats while the same mold was used is not the same weight as the race boat.

Unless you've been in a 28 Ghost in rough water you don't realize how well it handles while being very driver friendly. Setup right with 300's I could see this boat hit the 90's for those who care about top speed.

And the ghost returns to the west. Looking forward to the many “hey what kind of boat is that?” Questions that will come from the Havasu crowd.

Keeping the 200’s for now. Give her a detail and put her in the water. In the off season we’ll have some updates.

It really does. I’ve tracked a bit of the history, and Kris has as well, and boy this boat has had its view of the country.

This was a few years ago at the Sarasota New Years Day FUN RUN, when Timmy had just brought it from California back east.

Might just take you up on that. It’ll happen in the off season if we start redoing graphics, etc. I have some cool ideas, we’ll see if they come to fruition.
