I'd like to know more about Chaz's injection system with everything "outside" the plenum ? am I picturing this in my head right,as a 3l that looks like a 2.5 260 style rail and intake ? when I did the 300 promax midsection and tuner mods,it was chaz, that I listened to, to clean up all the casting crap and cut my tuner and drill the mid.

    Ok. Time for an update.

Got the motor on the boat and ran this morning. Idle is amazing with a nice little bubble to it.

Boat JUMPS out the hole and runs right to 43 mph on the limiter with minimal trim. The old motor would run 44-45 but had more RPM with the 300 ign box.

So as of right now, with a 225 ECM, 145lbs compression, CCM reeds and stuffers and nothing else it's out performing my old "pancake style" 250 with 300 ign computer.

The slip numbers are around 19ish percent.

Hopefully I'll get out and play with props this afternoon

And I really have to thank @Chaz

Without his help on getting the right parts together AND the things he has in store for me I wouldn't be having this much fun on my big heavy work boat. Lol

    Oh yeah.

Played with some props. 19p mirage got me to 45mph at about 5800.

Wouldn't pull my 22 bravo 1 on the top (5200) but still had plenty down low. This thing is a torque monster!

A couple things that a 300x has that you can do to a 225 inner can is ...

    1) Drill four holes and then play connect the dots so you have nice radiuses in the corners .. Then you can hole saw a 1 3/4 or 2" hole @ the lower bottom . Then it's up to you if you want to tack the U shaped piece back on . I usually don't ..
Open's up the flow a bit without making it loud, perfect for a "workboat" situation ..

    2) They also had a 5/8" cat's eye cut about an inch long ( up+ down) just above the seam that helped them idle a little cleaner ..

I like that. The can on my 20" mid is cut. Didn't want to cut this one because the wife won't like the noise on the "family" boat lol

I sort of have the same but opposite problem ..

    When I'm out boating ... I don't wanna hear my wife ..

On the cut cans, looking inside, lots of casting flaws and core shift ...

Also, on the 300x , both the runners are the length, not staggered like the 225/250 are ...

Of course Merc had to put the corner bolts too close to the runner ...

I use a couple old full thread head bolts to make studs and buy some 12 point nut's to use on the back two. A little weld in the "washer relief" area lets the outside wall to be cut straight instead of leaving the inner hump.
This set was before the studded corner deal. Getting rid of the blunt protrusion hanging out in the wind, is part of "all the little things that add up" ...

    Awesomeness.

So the wife and kiddo went out today. First thing out of her mouth "the boat seems to run better and is snappier"

I'm in love with this motor. I may not pull it for the hydro stream now.

Still getting a best of 44 with a 19 mirage. Tries my 21 Tempest but it's to big.

I gotz two fully stamped "free lunch" cards in my wallet ...

But don't worry, if I "just happen" to pull up next to a boat where the young ladies are wearin thongs and rubbing oil all over each other ... I'm still gonna hear about it ..

So go~ head and tell ..
