Really well. I really like the ride of the Argo. I get some water splashing from transom forward at low speeds but other than that it's perfect.

This thing will be faster then most will ever care to go when he gets gears and compression. I don't suggest that any locals with a single pull up next to him on Lake George (Ward is now being referred to as the Warden). Glad to see him happy and satisfied for a little while until his 28 is ready.

He has 1.75 gears in it now and we are working on getting him set up with a strong bracket & offshore clamp. There are "claimed" motor upgrades already available out there but as with every big c.i. motor, they like squeeze and it won't be long before someone has the secret recipe to make a manageable monster with this 4.6 platform. Just glad that the boat does what he wants-he has plenty of power for now.

what factors decide to use 1.60 or 1.75 gear ratios?

You have a 6450 stop wall with the stock ecu calibration. The motor makes a ton of torque and on an efficient hull like this, you can go up to it with a big propeller. The 1.60 will help prevent that and make it even faster for those that want to go there. The 1.60 gear will not be needed for most applications but its out there no so why not have it in a rig that can utilize it.

it looks like this motor started with 1.60 and now has 1.75, how does one change the gears (ratio) ?
