Another Jay Smith 2.5 260 rebuild with performance upgrades
This is Jason Trimberger and just wanted to share the positive experience I had with Jay Smith in Texas watching my 2.5 being put together. I got down there last Fri. And the engine was back together running by 1:00 pm. He and his wife put me up for two nights and it even came with a boar hunt. Very knowledgeable about performance mods that can be done to suite your needs. You will get what you pay for and save if you don't need it.
Thanks Jay

I am about ready to send Jay Smith a motor to rebuild. Just so i can hold it wide open in neutral until it blows apart.
There is no since in a high performance outboard builder not having a bad review at least once every few years. All his customers have been way to cheerful about handing Jay stacks of cash the he seems to just waste. Corvettes, Guns,
Night vision goggles. To much happiness in the world interferes with my grumpy, miserable way of life that i enjoy.
PS. Keep up with the good work. You apparently know your way around a 2.5 Mercury outboard.

Well I got jinxked today built drag a couple of weeks ago it came to me with 225x O ringed heads had 120lbs compression I built motor cut heads so it would have close to stock drag compression , but I didn’t check block deck that must have been cut very deep , we normally cut heads with squish to clear piston at deck ( .045”) hopefully so we’re these heads , but pistons hit heads so its back on the way to Texas to be repaired and confirm the issue anything that is my issue I’ll take care of just don’t hardly every have many boo boo’s...

See. That's means the world to me when looking for someone to do a job. They step up when a mistake was made and make it right. We are all human and **** happens. It's the same practice I use in my shop, it's rare we make a mistake, but when we do we make it right very quick.
Keep up the good work

I thought I read on here that every engine you built gets ran for two hours on test stand, wouldn't that be caught right off the bat? Not trying to be a jerk just thinking out loud. I read a lot of your posts because I have a 2.5 on my Action and one day hope to bring it to you from Panama City,FL the trip would be the same as taking it to South FL.

They are , but just at idle , I have no way to load the motor , if ya like send me your text number and I’ll let you watch and hear THAT motor run !!! I video every motor I build and send it to the customer if he’s not here watching ..
Deck mic on head squish and block deck measuring piston pertrution will answer all questions ...
