Not familiar with your meter but it’s 2,000,000 200,000 20,000 2000 and 200
2000 should give more .00 then 20k I also don’t know the lower limit if it has one per setting.
Youll need 20k on for the 5-6k reading and 2000 or 200 will be more accurate for the 150 reading'06 Tracker All-Fish/Tournament V-18 90 Optimax, 46.8 gps Goal one complete reach 45 mph.

Before you any ohms test, always ground your leads together and make sure you get a reading of 0 (or very close real world.use)

M-18 is correct, as is RSW about making sure your meter zero's out.
For your first two tests .. 20K ( 20,000) scale 5400 - 6200 ohms is good ( how you say ( gud )
Next two .. click down to 200 scale. 125 - 175 is good .
I like to use alligator clips to hook the wires to the meter so I can tug and twist on the wires to replicate a bad connection or vibration.
It's a good idea to check the harness to and from various components . More than one box has been replaced over the years because of a bad wire elsewhere ..
Then if you get to the point where your ready to shoot .45 holes thru the bottom , do like the man said and replace everything ....

I've found that one of the regulators on a 40 amp dual regulator will work fine with a 16 amp stator. If you get a used one, look for one with black fill, not the clear ones. It has the advantage of regulating by unloading the stator instead of overloading it as the standard 16 amp bypass regulators do. Stator will run cooler that way. They're also reasonably reliable, unlike the mercury rectifiers.
On any of them, the ground and battery connections are critical, as they will likely fry if freewheeled. To fish or not to fish? What a STUPID question.
