1991 2.5 245 HP cutting out at high speed.

Open to anyone that might know whats wrong with my motor . Was rebuilt late last year with Wizard pistons and CCM reeds. Barely put anytime maybe 2 hours before going into storage last season. First time out after about 30 mins of run time it cut out as if it had a rev limiter on it. It stalled started up but could not go over 2000 rpm, would want to shake and stall so ran at about 1200 rpms to get it home. Tonight ran compression test all at 130psi. Also ran spark test all plugs have spark. at 1000 rpms ran fine. So i will start process of checking electrical with ohms meter tomorrow.
Motor is 100% original on all electrical except starter rebuilt and new plugs. So my guess after 28 years something failed.
My first thought trigger of stator ... has anyone else have this happen to them?

    Thank you
    Joe

I had the same problem years back on my Bridgeport after hitting a submerged log at low speed. Turned oun to be the trigger.
