2,4l 220 XRI. Need more rpm out of this

I have removed black boxes. I still need to adjust timing correct before testing this. I was getting around 5800 rpm out with black boxes still in place. Will the ecu let me go past that or do i have to get ACU to get more rpm out of this motor? Oil pump is still in place and it is looped with hose and filled with oil. I will put block off kit soon.

Is there anything to do to get more rpm out of this motor with original ecu?

Motor runs fine. Starts up good and runs ok. I have not checked compression yet.

The boat is lightweight 17feet monohull. Finnsport 500.

I just put my 220 in storage. spent 1000 on a acu from tony, didnt change a thing, original worked ran just fine the tps has to be adj. perfectly, very important mine has 140 psi with 35cc hemi-heads, stock is 38cc.

Is there anything to do to get more rpm out of this motor with original ecu? leave it alone, youll be a lot happier and motor will last! mine runs like a 2.5 its 1987. those boxes are old school, but all work as a system. if it runs good dont mess with the electronics, trust me, been there. done that.
