Very good and i believe true info. I would love to see a 250 2 stroke with up to date frame and suspension, compete against a 250 4 stroke. My money is on the 2 stroke.

Back in 1979 Motorcycle Grand Prix racing was limited to 500cc. 2 strokes ruled. Honda's soul was with 4 strokes, so they developed an oval cylinder V4 to get the valve area of a V8

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_NR

    A glorious failure.

then GP bikes lifted the capacity to almost double to introduce 4s
Just imagine of the Japs had any DFI tech for 2 strokes back then

I’m going to respectfully disagree with you and say you’re 5-8 years too long.

There’s already at least 3 parties working on aftermarket versions of the 4.6L. Like anything else new, the pioneers get all the arrows in their @sses, but the ones that stick it out will look like heroes on the other end.

The toughest part isn’t going to be making power, I’m guessing it’s going to be propellers, because of the difference in torque and RPM bands, but we shall see...

N20 is always easier with a 4 stroke as well. No doubt that it will happen and sanctioning bodies will most likely welcome it with a weight offset of some sort if needed.

I’ve always marveled at the foresight of Zora Arku-Duntov. He foresaw the potential of the small block Chevrolet almost two years before it was even released in 1955, but it was because he himself was in the hi-Performance business making highly successful overhead valve conversion heads for flathead Fords.

Substitute “2.5L Merc” for Ford in that memo, and “screamandfly” for Hot Rod and see the picture before us.

And one thing’s for sure, change is constant. The SBC was produced for production vehicles from 1955-2000, a run of 46 years in 10 variants: 262 CID to 400 CID. The people that embraced them for decades were outraged when the LS series came along, and look where they are today. The LS series costs more to modify, and you’d better have some software or a good relationship with a tuner, but these things are faster than ever.

Now, we don’t have the numbers to support the aftermarket to get 3 manufacturers to make cylinder heads for the 4.6L, and remember it’s illegal to modify production EPA regulated engines for any use other than competition (ask Harley and the diesel aftermarket tuners about that one...) but someone will start making cams and pistons for these things if they can ever get their hands on them.

It’s just a matter of time. It’s never gonna be “the old days” that we remember, but it’ll be the next generation’s old days before you know it. You can watch and b!tch or participate and smile , it’s all your choice.

I dont think its illegal to modify EPA engines you just have to keep them in compliance.
Hacking the original ecu is another law to deal with, use you rown and you clear that issue.

Small block to LS is apple's to apple's comparison.

Small lightweight simple, cheap 2 STROKE, to the top heavy enormous, complicated, train wreck they just released is no comparison. There not even the same species it's like apples to oysters.
