    3.0 Mercury drilled gearcase?

    Has anyone drilled a gearcase or leg on a 3.0 liter Mercury?

    Yes, just to let the some exhaust out before the prop and a little noise, this is probably one of the quietest motors I've had.

    on my 3 liter i pulled the tuner out and cut the bottom 5" off where the casting line is. boat had better hole shot, acceleration, and 3 mph top end
    if you do that it allows the exhaust to exit above the cavitation plate where the openings are in the bottom of the mid

    I did it on my 200XP years ago on my Laser and it helped. I just never heard of anybody doing it on a 3.0 liter Mercury. Thanks for the feed back.

    89Laser If you need a cut 3 liter one .I have one out in the boat shed some where .I pulled from a 300X some one choped, Not much .If you want to save your tuner and want to go back to the quiet zone .
