Chaz, why do you think there hasn’t been any built yet? Is it warranty, cost, weight or the demand just isn’t there? Have any actual hardware changes been made to a 400R or is Whipple the only one who has modified the software?

Any details you can share? Post from 10 years ago by Rock says a member who was an intern claimed they made over 500hp reliably...

No details. This was from one the merc racing enginerds. it was a "let's see what we can do before it eats itself" type deal. It lived for a bit, but nothing you'd bet your life on. He said dont ever expect to see a 600+ hp verado because its anything but reliable but they were making well over 400 reliably.
Was also 3 years ago so maybe they have figured out how to make it live.Last edited by RSWORDS; 06-14-2019 at 01:54 PM.

I was curious at what Rpm and fuel? The pistons are atleast forged on 400R and you can get up to 5 years warranty on either the 300R or 400R, so these engines are obviously more reliable than past 2-strokes that came out of the Racing department with no warranty and required race fuel. Wonder if heat was the problem on the wicked up supercharged I6?

Next , you'll expect me to know who Hans Stuck is ...
Maybe you can help me .. I'm havin a hard time figgerin out where this last piece goes ...
davemvegas
I am thinking no on the north of 400HP. I am thinking several pistons in the scrap barrel trying to tune the from scratch to 370HP. If you can tune to 425HP. That would be great. You will only need 1 on your boat. And i will trade you 2 lil'Jims pork sammiches for the extra motor.
Just so we have our terminology straight . 401 is north of 400 ...
EGT , O2 , old age , and some pretty smart fellas around me have kept the scraps to a minimum. They made 375 with early model stuff .015 over , 20 years ago ...
I should be able to get there with a stroker crank and .220 over ..
Tell ya the truth, the .220 overs with a std crank are more than enough to make you pay attention . But I've had the parts for a while and I'm not getting any younger ...
Throw in some hot boiled peanuts ... and mannn I'll lose sleep thinkin about that deal
