Chaz, why do you think there hasn’t been any built yet? Is it warranty, cost, weight or the demand just isn’t there? Have any actual hardware changes been made to a 400R or is Whipple the only one who has modified the software?

Any details you can share? Post from 10 years ago by Rock says a member who was an intern claimed they made over 500hp reliably...

They have to s-l-o-w-l-y let out the ponies. No marketing hype in going from 300 right to 600. You do it in 50 hp increments. Merc. is a company based on staying ahead of the competition. And they do it only as needed. Could we have a 600hp outboard right now? Hell yes.

seven marine v8 is already here, who needs a tower of power?
They were just before their time like the V8 omc, not many boats for them but the trend is looking like their will be and we will call them light in a year or so..lolLast edited by powerabout; 06-14-2019 at 09:41 AM.

Even the wealthy guys shy away from the outboards that are almost $100,000 each. I think that when you can buy your competitions product that weighs half or less and is 25% of the cost, you have limited yourself to a very small market. I think that the Seven is a cool piece but l also humbly realize that I will never be able to own one or a boat big enough for one. Price dictates sales "always has and always will" if the product isn't total trash.

No details. This was from one the merc racing enginerds. it was a "let's see what we can do before it eats itself" type deal. It lived for a bit, but nothing you'd bet your life on. He said dont ever expect to see a 600+ hp verado because its anything but reliable but they were making well over 400 reliably.
Was also 3 years ago so maybe they have figured out how to make it live.Last edited by RSWORDS; 06-14-2019 at 01:54 PM.
