opinions on a 2.4 build

ill try to get to the point. i have a 2.4 220 old but runs rite up with my pmax 2.5. talk from most say no way, 2.4 can breathe and never run with a 2.5. does my 87 220 have some factory porting secrets? IM TURNING the same prop, same rig and 225 a tad faster. 2 mph.
both motas stock. acu on p/m. 87 is a mariner/ magnum stil has the oil injection. did 75 on a shadow bass boat turning a 26p. ready to call my p/max, slo/ max. funny, had it 4 sale, couldnt give it away. i didnt notice all this torque from the 2.5.as reported.

Your 2.5 may be week.....tired.... detuned by seller.........for warrentie reasons......220s were IMO just stickked up to sell em.....EFI... at its fineeeesss.....AS TRex said ..... 200 is 200.....2.4 or 2.5.......Now if the exhust ports match the prop..........

HEY DAVE, dont think p max is weak timing right on, compression all good immaculate condition. was told my 220 was prop shaft rated, and p/max 225 same. thats 5 more h,p, and thats what i got! only 5k. what a deal. LOL! your thinkin the 2.5 should whip-azz over that 2,4? aint happin',

As T rex said......How many RPMs are we turning? I had a 220 and to me the only diff was the EFI.....from a carby 2.4.......But if ya have a 2.4 go to it and have funn.... just don't break the bank....

Promax should b round 242 245 hp prop rated. But trex was a firm believer that he could build one to run with bout any 2.5 , but he was the man on tha 2 fo.

WHY would merc under rate the h.p.? i dont get it....the logic. why is a 280 faster than a 300?

6200, 2.4 turned 5900-6000 same prop. dont tell me i have to pitch down with all this added horsepower? somethings off.....

Not saying you should have to pitch down. Somethings off is what you are saying......and I agree.

Isnt the PM rev limit at 6750ish? Can u raise mota anymore to free up few rpm?

The old 1750's were faster than the original vertical front 2.4 200's. That's why they came up with the 225's and the horizontal front 200. Sometimes a new product isn't always an improvement...

99 cc is not the barn burning displacement it’s made out to be. 25hp on the water is like sitting in the bed of a pickup truck blowing backwards to go faster.

Same prop same hull same day same driver same foot gear same gas only rpm turned would matter.

U are 100% correct, im going to put it in the cold case files. i had unrealistic expectations, but its quiet and looks good.

MY thoughts exactly, i just raised it 3/8'' more, it looks stupid high but still pumping. sat am test day, same water, same prop. oh, same tach.
