    ...8141 Connecting rod check

With the end cap bolted on and alignment markings correct If I run a finger nail inside the big hole I can feel a slight "resistance" at one of the parting lines when going 1 way. I cannot really feel anything with a penciL? I tried it on several other 2.4 rods from running motors and on some could feel the slight change. I have not tried crocus cloth or anything. Is rod (s) shot.

Jmo. Make sure it’s nice and clean, torque cap down to 30 ftlbs. If ya feel any catch on either mating point in either direction, I personally don’t use the rod.

Make sure the mating surface is clean dry ,no moisture from oil or lock tite , lint etc if there is anything between the two you will feel something with your finger ,if clean and still feel sometimes move the cap around slightly when tightening works

I tap the first rod bolt sideways when tightnen....than close the next.... loosen the first and re tighten.... should set well.......If not I have PLENTY..........When you tap it sets the granula pattern on the break line.

I first chase the loctite out of the threads scrub all 4 surfaces with SS brush in wash vat blow dry connect the cap to rod yoke and torque to 20 ish feel for perfect alignment and no imperfections at crack area if so repeat cleaning process again if it doesn’t align perfectly I junk the rod . If a rod cap is sprung to to stress it will “crack cap up” on one side but do to the cap being stretched due to stress it will NEVER align and will take an expensive crankshaft out ....

    Just My Observations ,

By "crack cap up" Jay are you referring to the outside of a rod where the cap meets the rod ?

Both the fits ID and OD MUST be perfect , if not after cleaning junk it , rods are cheaper than cranks and or worse it an issue of a bad rod slips by inspection and not only the crank gets taken out in the destruction can take out you complete investment , good luck !
