Tachometer
Finished engine swap in my 1750 XLV. It had a 2.4L XR4 which developed problems so i picked up another boat motor n trailer that has an XR2 150 which is the 2.0L motor. Only thing different with the engines is the XR2 was still running the oil injection. I bought the oil pump plug and now using premix. Everything worked as expected except the tach. I was wondering what feed the tach a signal. I thought it was the alternator and of thats the case i thought the tach should work. I took it for a test run this evening and only issues are the tach and the oil injection alarm. My question is shouldnt the wiring be the same on XR2 and XR4?

Wiring should be very similar. Color codes at least will be the same. Gray wire is tach signal and will be coming off rectifier on xr2. remove oil warning module if it is still hooked up. Welcome to the site.
