Hydro steering cable bulkhead strain relief fittings Help...

Okay so I bought some t h Marine hydro steering line bulkhead fittings a few months back and being universal I didn't think anything of it, but my seastar pro hydro lines came in today and I was mocking everything up and there is no way to physically get the hose fitting through the strain relief fitting.. is there any other fittings that work or are they supposed to be installed on the hose before the actual brass fitting is crimped on.. I already started making mounting points on my boat for the fittings and they don't work. I'd hate to have to cut them off, I'm hoping to find something that will work with the hoses I have and the side of the holes I cut out of my hull. worst comes to worst ill make something else to make it work but What have you guys used with the seastar pro hoses?

Return the hose and buy the one with the bulkhead fittings already installed on them.
