How often do you like to replace gearcases? I think a coned XR4 or XR6 case is as fast as anything. But I've blown up 3 or 4 XR4 cases and I'm done with them. The XR6 might be a bit faster, and some have installed sportmaster gears in them, but it's still weak. That's your fastest option.

At the speeds I've gone, I have no preference over a coned CLE or a Sportmaster, except that the sportmaster is newer and likely to last longer. My CLE spit a propshaft and Triton to the bottom of the lake.

I run a stock sportmaster now. If I had your power, I might get the sport tuned for the SS2000 by Hydromotive or someone else experienced. But try it first. For me the sporty is great
