I/O to bracket conversion
So this isn't a speed boat, but it's a conversion none the less. Boat is not rotten, so we just patched outdrive hole and added knees for a little extra. The deck will be filled in and a bulkhead all the way across the back of the transom. Not many pics of the process. I cut 14 inches of stringer out, was rotten due to drain holes drilled in the wood. I stripped back 1 layer of ply wood for the patch. I screwed a board to the outside of the boat and skinned the repair. Couple extra mats in the middle. After it was cured I wet 2 mats and puttied in a board the size of the hole, then putted in a board the size of the cutout. 2 layers of 1708 over it. Built knees and puttied them into the stringers, with 1 extra filler piece of wood. Glassed over the face of the knees and let it cure. After it was all cleaned up, I glassed the knees into the boat and glassed 24 inches of the stringer into the boat. The whole transom got a 1708 covering all the tabs. The drain holes now have pipes in them and no exposed wood. When that was done, I got to get dressed up in long pants and shirt, hat, glasses and dust mask and grind all of it. It needs gel coat and the rest of the pieces installed.

Nothing to crazy. Only wood because the rest is. But not rotten so will be good for a long time. Was done in 2012 I think. Just patching it up.

I'll have to get back with specifics. But I think it's a formula center console. 400hp I think.

Wow that should be a cool old boat. Those formula's were great in the ruff for a 23'er. Might touch 60....

And its only a patch. Still gonna add a couple pieces of ply across the top of the transom. There is only wood in the middle. Add extra strength to the upper transom and corners.

So did a little bagging. Scored the ply on the back so it would bend, putted it in and pulled it down. It pretty much squished out everywhere. Yes the middle is a shop vac, it was only to hold it in place. It was flat and fit right, just needed vacuum to hold it down for 20 min.

Filled any gaps and drug some putty around the edges. It'll all get sanded smoother and glassed.
