I don't really care what Mercury drops. The customer service i have got from them on my 300X motors has been **** to say the least. I have owned, and do own multiple outboards from both OMC and Mercury and i will never buy another Mercury again after dealing with bad parts, back ordered parts and even parts that are no longer being made. Each to there own on the 4 cycle and what they offer for new motors pro's and con's without customer service and parts the other brands will over take them at some point.

Just my 0.02 regarding the waiting for the motor you want. Personally on my sport boat, I would have no problem waiting for THE MOTOR I want, but if I was making my living with my work boat, I would probably have to consider going down the street and buying what is in stock, so I can still pay my bills.

Mercury hasn't released anything interesting in 20 years (Mercury 200xs) so frankly, I don't care what their announcement will be.
I bought a 200xs new and if they still made it I would buy another but these 4-strokes... I refuse 4-stroke outboards.

So if they come up with a 4 cyl verado on a 15" mid that makes over 200 hp and weighs the same as your XS you are out? That would be the only logical replacement for what you have.

I would certainly think about it but I am sure Mercury's next big announcement won't be in that ballpark.

Because that's the motor most likely to get the product delivered.
The Japanese make more outboards in a month than mercury will in a year. I'll trust there R and D.
They just marketed worldwide and the typical marketing manager in the USA doesnt think there is a market anywhere else.
Didnt Yam market everywhere in the world first then moved into the USA with their now huge muscle/leverage/R&D and pretty much conquered the USA, same as Toyota and the Camry, nothing special but they are the biggest sellers
I would hate to think the future for US outboards will follow USA cars that dont get sold anywhere except the USA?
They keep making tiny volume high performance cars, cool...who else makes 15" 200+ hp, cool but...

I need a clue. Also not sure of the height of the tallest midget. That info may narrow the field a little.

Anyone hearing the rumors of the supercharged V8 being the same weight as the 400R? 668 lbs seems way too high. A 100+lb. Supercharger? Where's the weight coming from?
