I really do not understand why that style of boat is so popular. Then put more then 2 motors on it and I really do not get it at all.

To each their own, but I do not get it.

Some credible info I have: 450 hp, weight about the same as the 400R, same mid as the 400R (no offshore HD transom assembly) and reports are that the MTI 34ft catamaran was about 8 mph faster then the 400R.

Are you talking about an upgrade to 450hp for the 300R or the 400R?

If it is the 400R, that has already been done with a tune, so no big news on that.

If it is the 300R, then that would be nice, but I don't know why it would increase the weight that much.
If it weighs the same as 400R, then what is the selling point? The louder exhaust?

Its a supercharged 300R. Apparently it does not look too different then the 300R in terms if cowl design.

I don't see the value in them grafting a 400R mid onto the 4.6L powerhead but they basically already did that with the 4.6L Verado.

The 300R already uses the 400R lowers. I heard the"new" R motor comes in under 600 lbs, not that it weighs the same as the 400R.

The lowers are not identical. The skeg shape is different on the 300R. On the boats we tested, the 400R needed to be jacked to the moon to run fast, while the 300R was perfectly happy with the same height as a 300 XS with a sporty.

I'm hoping for 575-600lbs with 450 and 500 hp. Fingers crossed. 15inch midsection isn't happening either but one can hope!

    Absolutely
I remember guys racing twin engine vee bottoms, then move up a class with 3rd engine and they went a few mph faster
Merc needs to have a bravo 3 lower on those car motors for big boats

When you plaster outboards right across the transom it really says you dont have the right product for that boat.
Imagine a saltwater 10 year old one or will they all get repowered at each w/tee expiry date?

Post 1 talks about getting an invite to the event. Did anyone here get one? There is literally NOTHING on either mercurymarine.com or mercuryracing.com about an event in Nashville so I'm wondering if there is actually an announcement forthcoming.
