    Tygon!

Is pissin me the hell off , seems like every time I go out I come in with a leaking bleed line, always at the block ,just at end of nipple. Lines have enuff slack to flow smooth and no sharp turns , I'm goin with merc black chit again. dont look as gud but never ever had all the issues, just cant hold up to the heat I think. Maybe this should b in rant and rave thread but I'm gonna do it hear. Anyone got a good replacement?? O and in top of that I guess I sucked up sum trash on the way in today , has fire on all 6 cranking, damn carbs and lines!!! Just in time for holiday
Wont b down long, will be fixed by 9 in morn and at it again , does merc still sell bleed line? Prob outrageous tho, any substitute?

I was wondering if some high temp silicone line I have would work well? It's 5/32" ID x 5/16" OD which may be a little too big? I haven't used it on a Merc just on my rc boat engines for water cooling on the engines...its softer than the tygon so might kink?

Not always the silicone tubing posted above is soft but can be on hot metal fittings without melting, I use it on fitting that get close to 200 degrees on zenoah rc boat engines

    What :

    NAPA H-174
    1/8"
    fiber
    reinforced fuel injection hose

    Why:

Same thing Merc uses , stays in place , pliable , heat and ethanol resistant .

    Tygon :

Cuz that yellow **** looks so nice in my fish aquarium ..

Stuff is way too pliable. Pro Marine sells the black stuff that works well.

I’ve used tygon tubing ( fuel and lubricant grade ) I buy from McMaster Carr for 25 years never had any issues with any instillation anywhere on any Mercury V-6 , maybe the product your using has to thin a wall thickness OR it’s not rated for fuel lubrication application ?? I also secure it to every barb with ty straps ...I use at least 1 50’ spool a month
    Part # 5552k23 from McMaster - Carr ......404 346 7000 Atlanta , Ga.
BTW Every 2.5 V-6 High Performance Motor ever made that came from racing division came stock with the same yellow tygon I use daily ??

MY BAD I put wrong McMaster part number up the number listed is correct !!!That former number was the bigger tygon I use for water line from poppet to top of block , steel sleeved motors!!!

Never had an issue with Tygon and I’ve ran one hot enough to melt the coils to divider plate

No need in even going into what the rest of the industry uses. I'll stick to your exact wordage ... not an inch of aquarium tubing on anything from the turn of the century ..

just to clarify the aquarium tubing you get at the pet store cannot take the heat, the high temp silicone I posted in post #2 CAN take high temps unlike the traditional aquarium tubing

I used the tygon for bleed line too and would always come back with a oily block from the fittings on the block. I replaced them with the promarine bleed line. So far so good not nearly as oily as it was.

I use tygon on my 3.0l motors never had a problem and don't even need zip ties. If u buy right size you will tear the hose apart b4 it moves off barbed fitting bleeder if u try pulling hose back off.
I buy mines from eBay but beware of knocks offs
Jay has given you a great place to buy from and if you do your own fabrication work they have everything you can think of

    I wasn't aware of NAPA store's selling Goldfish ...

So you hang a new build 300x long block together.

Ya gonna use windshield washer fluid "silicon tubing" for your external oil lines ???

How bout your bleed lines .. sneeze one off .. lean city ..

    It's 2019 .. the world has changed since 1995 .. just sayin

Now askin, the motors that won Monaco and Indy today. What did they use for upper and lower rod bearings .. ???
