2016 Evinrude M2 lower unit bearing carrier removal

Im taking apart an M2 C.R lower unit to replace the propshaft. I have all the proper tools to do the job but he bearing carrier will not come all the way out. It comes out farther than what the manual shows but will not pull right out the way they state. There is next to no play between the carrier and prop shaft, the carrier will not move in or out without moving the shaft with it. Any thoughts?Click image for larger version.

The shaft on a CR unit is different and the carrier/shaft come out together. You dont use a puller that hooks to carrier and applies pressure on the end of the prop shaft.

Yup I used the proper BRP puller to get it out to where it is at now. So i should just keep trying to pull it out?

Ive tried pushing down on the detent as the manual describes but it just pulls the carrier and shaft back into the case and than i can no longer move the shaft or carrier in or out

Got it out. Had to use a slide hammer to get the outer shaft off of the inner shaft
