When you can’t swap rods and pistons around to get time more in line but it’s all in spec.

Or or you need a 4* key and no one has a dang 4* key.

Bingo lol ! A few weeks ago I ordered 16 for my V8 project and Bombardier’s warehouse shipped 12 lol .

    Other dislikes:
    - excessive number of gasket surfaces to clean on OMC crossflows. Saltwater ones are even worse. Thumbs up for lost foam castings.
    - Removing main bearing race dowel pins that people have squashed into their holes to the potint they are ineffective
-Lapping reed cages (boring as hell)

Conversely I really like torquing and aligning rod caps - that feels like it’s all coming together

...going through 100 used rods on a gram scale...(and marking them)...to find six that are simular weights for a build. (inspecting them, cleaning them, checking rod cap alignment, bolts, etc...) that was the old days.

When you get it together and realize you don't have a fresh base gasket.

I hate my hands getting all oily and slimy and then it transfers to my tools. I like all my stuff to be clean.

Its when you do it three times in a row that it REALLY gets trying. Sled engines, cold weather, and porting with pipes... not to mention newb to tuning two strokes. Young, dumb and full of yee haw. Ouch my wallet and pride back then
