Whats your the part you like least of building your engines?
Ok guys. This one crosses all lines. I was pulling the pistons off my rods today and installing new pistons on the rods. This was for my crossflow motor. Installing the wristpin(with loose needles) is by far the most tedious and time consuming for me on a crossflow build. I don't hate it. I tolerate it since it is a part of the build. But it is definitely my least favorite. I don't mind loose bearings on the crank side. the procedure for loose needles on the wrist side.................awful. I spent 4 hours doing 6 pistons today, that's when this question came to me.
What is your least fav when you have to build an engine.................just curious.

Wrist pin bearings are easy, needle bearing grease and I have a rod cut down that fits in the bearings to keep them in place until I push the wrist pin in.....
I actually love building engines, so my least favorite part, I still like doing..... cleaning everything up......."One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors". Plato .

I figured there would be someone to say cleaning up. THat may have been my first choice...........but since I had already done that weeks ago, I may have forgotten the mess associated with that. But wrist pin stress was good-n-high-today.
It sounds like you took an old wrist pin and cut it down? And then pushed it out the bottom with the actual wrist pin? Pretty clever. Why wouldn't the OMC manual state something like that?(sarcasm).....I mean they've got a frickin tool for everything...........go figure, they don't have a tool to make piston install easier...........more sarcasm

I'm with the guys. I actually like putting pistons on rods with no special tools , just little needle bearing grease. I do mean little as possible tho , I wish I had a couple of build rite now Haha, once u get a rhythm with the bearings then all is gravy , usually after 1st 6 haha

Forgetting a stupid little part that should have been on the first order and paying shipping twice. Even if it's just a mail order.

Paying the tab. Co-incidentally that is my limiting factor for my builds.

13mm deep well 3/8 drive socket is great for Merc wrist pins. Cleaning parts sucks. The rest isn't bad.
