    In the picture the two areas with the most sand. The rear area is water in and the front area is water out. Once you remove the sand you will find several small holes. If you enlarge do it minimally as they get too big you will lose water pressure.

    The engine is bolted back onto the mid section. Should be water testing by the end of the week. Ill keep you all posted.

    Pulled the heads tonight... no blockage at all. They are 2 piece heads so they can be really inspected.

    Replaced headgasket with no change.

    If you ran it with the new poppets but still had sand in the motor could have filled the back side of poppet valve.... blocking it's movement. The 2.4s with out the hose to the pop cover had a hole that ran water past the block....that may be how sand could get in again. Try running it with pop removed.....should see lots of water flowing.... And where is your press gage hooked in to....?

    It was ran with the new poppet valve and sand in the midplate area. BUT when i did the mid plate gaskets and cleaning, i took the poppet valve apart and make sure all its nice and clean.

    The water pressure gauge is in the top of the engine right behind the fly wheel. Same spot as my other engines gauge.

    Pulled the powerhead again, double inspected everything on the mid plate. Pulled it off the mid section to make sure nothing is blocked in the mid section. No blockage at all.

    Back flushed the engine mutiple times from each t stat port, puppet valve and everything has been done mutiple times. Zero issues found.

    The water hoses from the t stats are all new. Zero blockage in them.

    Now, the next video will show the water pressure at 12 ish psi. This is my garden hose pressure. I removed the lower unit, and put the garden hose right onto the copper tube that is the engines water supply....
    When the engine is above 3500 rpm you can see the water pressure gauge start to jump a few psi. It gets more jumpy the higher the rpms are.

    To me this is a indicator that cylinder compression is entering the cooling system?

    And just for kicks the cylinder compressor is 123 psi all cylinders

    I would think that the water fluctuating at rpm is poppet open and closing possibly , when motor warms up the pressure should actually go down sum when it opens. Maybe a faulty poppet , what brand did u buy

    Poppet valves is OEM merc.

    Which is nothing more than a spring and grommet. Keep in mind that the drive is off. So no pressure increase should be happening since its running right off the garden hose.

    I also restricted the hose down to a 7 ish psi and found the same jumping needle. I think it was at the same rpms... But maybe it was at a lower RPM. Its all starting to run together in my mind.

    One thing i did notice too, is it seemed to hold the water pressure even after shutting off the hose. I cant give a good time line... but it seemed like pressure just stayed in the engine and did not drain out of the normal "water exits"... Unless the water drains more out of the impeller housing?

    When you pulled the powerhead did you split the exhaust plate? The lower half could still be full of sand. Also you would want to pull the divider plate and check the passages to the block, junk loves to get caught in there.
