    Optimax Compressor help!!!!!!

I Installed a new Mercruy Comprssor 8M0050657 I put it in the engine in break in mode. I let it idel on the hose for about 10 minutes. I then took the boat to the water. Let it idle for about 10-20 minutes at the dock. I idled out out for about another 10 minutes. Got up on plane ran at about 4000 rpms for abouot 1 mile came off plane and the engine shut off. Went to restart it and acted like the compressor was bad. Pulled the belt off and I can spning the comprssor with little effort. UGGGGGGGG What did I do wrong?

I pulled the compressor off today took the top off it and it looks like the fingers ( the reed looking things ) arent sealing and I guess thats why I have no compression. Cylinder wall looks clean, the pistion looks good, I dont feel any slop (like the rod bearing is good)

So could the reed plate be bad? I attached the picture of the piece I think is bad

I spun the compressor with a drill makes almost no compression like NONE when put back together

Warranty send it back and get a new one. Curious did your previous one end up in pieces? If so did you get your fuel rails and injectors checked and cleaned?

This is a long shot. But i have to ask. You did not cap off the inlet nipple on top or leave a shipping plug in it?

I found a thread that was talking about the water screen at the bottom of the block that feeds the Compressor. It said it if it was even slightly clogged it could cause the compressor to over heat. Im not sure i beleiev that that was my issue but I pulled it and cleaned it out there was a little bit of seaweed stuck in there. I cant believe that little bit might have caused an issue but its gone now.

My compressor just blew, I happened to check the strainer and it was completely impacted. Not sure if it was the cause though. People have been experiencing a lot less failures with the updated black compressor, I doubt ppl are monitoring the strainer anymore than they used too. According to another compressor thread most Merc techs ignore cleaning it all together.
