Correct, that's attached to 1 of 2 black wires with yellow stripe. For all testing, they've both been unplugged.

Do you remember what happened when it died originally
Did it just shut down, did it overheat at all,
anything odd happen...have seen regulator/rectifier burnout other parts when air trapped in block and burned out..but you've replaced it all so??? You said it was all replaced right.if not what hasn't?
Harness is original
Defective part or wire somewhere..
Hell had one of mine catch fire(could be coincidence) when someone turned my stereo all the way up seeing if he could hear it over the motors while cruising..LETS GO BRANDON.... LETS GO BRANDON

It was cruising great, then we slowed down for the no-wake zone and it had trouble idling, then stalled. Started back up barely and we limped it to shore, and died again. We cranked it like crazy checking for spark, fuel, etc. at the dock and the starter was getting super hot and cranking slowed down the more we did it. Had a buddy run to my shop and grab one off another of the same motor, but did the same thing. Messed w/ it a little bit the next few days by trying different parts that I had from the other motor, but still nothing. Then I had my son, and it's been almost 2 years between working, other projects, etc.

Motv18 asked What about compression(and yea w/o any spark gun won't work why I was asking if you had any at all).
Oh did you test all the wires in the harness??
Do you have any other parts?
Must be a wire grounding(on the motor since you used a remote harness) or defective part?
You said you replaced flywheel did you check it ..if it was used did it work before?Last edited by mrichartz; 05-20-2019 at 08:00 AM.

At any point during the shops fixing it did it start and run ?
Something is disconnected. A total no spark is like neutral safety, and kill switch
plug the shift back in and run the remote through the gears. And wiggle the key.
Knowing you you have tested a lot has me spitballing.
Interisting thought did did you get to keep any of the original parts swapped?

Compression was taken...all were between 135 and 145. One was a little lower at 122, but have been told that's normal with these. I've run through the harness doing continuity checks and all are good. Gonna have another go at the switch positions on the key and see if something got mixed up with everyone messing with it.
The flywheel I had worked, but got another just in case. I think it was refurbished, it's in really good shape though.

Nobody ever told me they got it running. They said get this, got it, still not running. Then they said they'll have to come back to it in a few weeks cause they're super busy...so I took it someplace else that couldn't figure it out, then had a guy come to my house, he couldn't figure it out.
I have my old parts, yes. I've been systematically swapping parts out from new to old and back again.
The motor doesn't have the shift switch insalled at all.

I'm about to go out for some more diag and will keep u guys informed.
I still really think it might be cranking too slow. One of the techs at CDI said this thing needs to spin at least 350rpm.

Ok, that's no longer installed. It hasn't been there since I got the motor.
