Are you able or willing to do any work yourself? People can talk you thru some of the basic things on here. A shop manual goes along way. But if not, I understand too. I just don't know anyone in that area.....sorry
Btw, I love the v6 xp150 cowl on a v4...........great stuff.

Thanks!
i have limited time and would rather have a pro work on it.
i have my own skill sets but working on old outboards is not one of them
Yeah, the cowl turns a lot of heads especially since it’s on a 13’ Bullet!
thanks again !

Gonna be tough on the Nissan parts are scarce. But several omc parts fit.
No idea in yor area though but it’s a basic carb stator build any decent tech can work it.
The 70 is bored out over the 50-60, I forget the omc props that fit but good selection available.

What's wrong with it? What needs to be done/checked?

........what he said........they are actually pretty simple.........at least in quick diagnosing to narrow it down to more precise things.

Both engines have been sitting a few years - so at least carb & water pump work would be expected
I have no idea whats wrong with the power heads - possibly nothing
I would like to see if they are worth running or if i should look for something newer
i know the Evinrude needs the trim repaired & the shift shaft bolt in the pan is stripped (as per a friend who looked at it) so the lower unit cant be readily removed
both engines need to be re-rigged to the boats
I would start off with compression tests and go from there
The mechanics that I do know are not interested in these old motors - especially since they aren't Mercs!
The compression test is easy enough, but I really don't have the time.
I also have a newer 90 Yamaha to use if these don't pan out
but again - looking for someone to rig it
Thanks for the reply

Yeah, you need to find that "guy" as dealerships want nothing to do with 2 strokes.
Maybe try facebook, they have a local classifieds section. Or craigslist locally.
There used to be a bunch of independent mechanics in my area. How good they were or reliable??????
Good luck.

Unless broken the Nissan should fire right up. Cleaning never hurts, but as long as the gas was good and stored right. Would definitely hook up fresh gas though.
The rude is a rude
The powerhead thing was just informative should you ever need parts. Sometimes they won’t touch if they don’t know any cross reference.
Thats just me reminiscing the 50b I had.
