By units, you mean does Hustler sell this same boat, only with the engines bolted directly to the transom? Nobody knows, because it is extremely rare when Hustler makes one of these. If the boat only can be rigged, with the jackplate as a necessity, then the boat has issues. Someone designed the transom too tall, transoms too thick to bolt to, or engine can't be trimmed/tilted all the way up, boats got a hook in the bottom, etc.,who knows?...otherwise simply rig the motor direct to the transom, and fill any holes that need to be filled/gelcoated. This along with the other goofy rigging this boat has. Time(and parts) is money. But hey, anything fiberglass can be fixed.

I was curious if this jackplate is actually a production unit anybody can buy and who makes it, or tried one?

Looks like a porta bracket? Nice stuff. Cool boat, would be fun for the small lakes and rivers around our neck of the woods.

Thats a Porta Bracket, about $2800 retail and well proven. Probably one of the strongest adjustable brackets available.

Regardless what everyone wants to think, the fact it hasn’t sold in 5 years points out there really isn’t a market for these boats anymore. $70k buys a really nice CC or deck boat so the wife and kids are happy.

If I want to go fast for the same money I’ll buy a brand new Talon. Oh wait, I did that

It's a porta bracket, one of the best brackets out there. You don't want the engine mounted to the transom.

There's nothing wrong with it. You want a jack plate on most performance v hulls.

The boat was built without a splashwell, negating a bracket of some sort.

There's nothing goofy about the rigging. The shifter placement is a little odd, but that's about it.

It's an awesome boat. I'd just replace the rear hatch, and maybe paint on a stripe. Built like a brick.

    ........
Well there are two days to go in this auction for the Hustler 21 SOB and not one bid ...............

This is a very unique example of a very rare boat. Built on spec by Hustler Powerboats, and run for only about 5 hours for testing, this Hustler is built to an incredibly high standard. Using the same build technology as their larger offshore boats, the deck and cockpit are one piece. This PT 221 also features vacuum bagged foam core stringers, plus every piece of hardware is reinforced and backed by composite board.

This example of the Hustler PT 221 comes with rigging for a Mercury Marine, but has no engine. If the buyer needs a trailer, Hustler can arrange for a trailer to be made at an additional cost, separate from the winning bid. Hustler used this boat primarily for promotional usage, therefore is like new. Owner reports only about 5 hours of usage in the water.

The sleek sport boat is 21’ feet long, and has a 7’10” beam. With a deep 22 degree hull and pad bottom, the boat is very capable in rough water, and can handle a range of different power options, depending on usage.

Inside the boat, you will find custom made bucket seats up front, and a very useful L shaped rear bench seat, creating a very practical layout. Upholstery is white with red trim. On the exterior, the boat is finished in pure white, with the Hustler logo on the deck in red letters. Owner reports no blemishes or scratches.

    Specs:
    Length 21’
    Beam 7’10”
    Hull 22 degree
    Fuel 67 gallon

    Standard Equipment
All Switches integrated into custom dashboard
    Cockpit cover
Dash: Aircraft style with complete instrumentation; Fuel level, speedometer, tachometer, voltmeter, water temperature
2 Race style front bucket seats & foot rests
Mercury side mount shift/throttle control with engine trim
    Custom steering wheel
    Safety ignition kill switch
    Battery switch
    Cockpit floor- non-skid fiberglass
    L shaped rear bench seat
Forward under deck ski & storage compartment
    Grab handles
    Stereo with 4 speakers
    Cockpit side storage
    Cockpit lighting

I think Hustler should've set it up with an engine and trailer, made it turnkey.

Would you move the drivers seat way forward to be able to reach the steering wheel, as mentioned, or would you replace/relocate the steering helm somehow with an extension shaft, or?

The seat is on a slider, so I'd just slide it up to the best position. There's a pic of Joe driving, looks perfect.

That dash would need a total rework IMO. I guarantee you can't see the gauges at speed and the shifter/throttle is basically useless in that position. The stereo should be on a swing down hideaway bracket behind the dash to get if off the dash completely. The black button box looks terrible.

The you have to chop the speaker bubbles out of the hatch and re-glass that to close it. And then open the gunnel to recess the speakers in there.

Also, the space between the two foot rests should have been a storage locker so you have some place to put junk and have it secure at 70 mph.

All it takes is time and money to fix all of that ..............

Then you have to buy a new trailer for $5k, and find a used low hour 300XS for $10K to power it. I'd also want to know why the boat's stern is sitting so low in the water at idle. Seems way to low to me.

Only thing I agree on there would be the shifter, easy fix is foot throttle. The water proof buttons are great. There is storage under the rear and floor.

    I'd just replace the hatch.

"The stereo should be on a swing down hideaway bracket behind the dash to get if off the dash completely" lol. What the heck is that, why. Haha.
