    Promax warm up

I have read that it is best idle motor till it has warmed on a steel sleeve motor. I installed a temp gauge with sending unit in the cylinder head in front of Tstat,is it safe to say when gauge moves Good to go. Thank you

It should reach water temp between 140-145 at idle. The colder the lake/river water is the longer you need to let it soak at the 140-145 temp before running it hard, the warmer the inlet water, the less time it needs to be at the 140 degree range before opening it up. The more compression ya running the more important this is, stock compression mainly important in colder water and more forgiving in warmer water temps.

Wet sender (which is what you have now) will read approx 30* colder so yes when you see the gauge move it is safe to say you can move.
I do suggest to NOT WOT till that gauge move a bit more on the way. If you are running stats and they are 143* if they are open tell tail dumping well you should be at a good temp. 145-160 is a good temp for a steel sleeve....JMPO

I tell my customers to wait till the thermostat targets temps and start dumping before you really load the motor , by that time the bore should have reached full expansion and safe ...

    Works for my guys ,

Jay and I are saying the same thing, I just got too wordy. Let it idle until the temp gets to approx 145 on your water temp gauge, thats the temp the stats will regulate it at. If it’s less than that something is wrong and be careful.
