Everything is new. rotating assembly dynamically balanced, upper bearing is new and there is no play in the crank.
I have measured the inner magnet outside diameter and the timer base inner diameter, and I agree it cant move that much.
I am not sure if the timer base is the issue or not but, every one I have pulled has had two opposite poles rubbed bright.
I replace the timer base and it will turn 7k for a bit then dumps to 6k and starts 4 stroking.
    I appreciate all the input.
The MSD system is out of my price range, because of a claiming rule in our class.

Thanks again for all the input.

    Jim

Jim, you may have already done it this way.......and if so.........ignore me. Use a really good caliper or a mic to to check the magnets diameter.......in multiple spots. That way you can see if its just one area.............same thing for the timing base.

Long shot here.........but are all the grounds good? When I start scratching my head at something electrical, I will usually just check grounds......if it is required to make the circuit function. Unfortunately, I have not had to troubleshoot the timer base yet for all 6-7 motors that I have owned/built. So, that's all the further my advice can go with the troubleshooting.

So no physical contact between parts while by hand turning assembly at full advance. No crank run-out, no flywheel issues.

Does the timer base fail an ohms test or volt test when your engine has the issue?

Not sure, but I am guessing it is going to be a voltage issue, as the motor runs fine under 6k. I believe I do not have adequate primary voltage at the higher rpm. I plan on testing it in the test tank with my stevens meter to verify voltage.

Thanks again Powerabout for your input.

Year model engine ? Didn't understand your response on which ignition > 1 single pack for entire engine, or 1 pack for each bank.

Find you a v6 crossflow stator, 76-78, change brown/brown-yellow connections . this should pick up your low voltage side

or run either pair ( it has 2 charge coils) to each 2 cyl pack?

I am running single pack. Spoke with CDI earlier and the suggested running a twin pack/dual charge coil stator and wiring them together to feed the single pack. I think I need to keep the color code the same.
Both brown to the brown and both brown/yellow to brown yellow, if I understood him correctly.

Or maybe take a 4 charge coil stator and feed two, two cylinder packs?

    Thanks again for the input.

Try using the older packs.............the 2 cylinder and stator to go with. 582125 is the unlimited powerpack part number for the 2cyl packs

The glue has gone soft/ fractured on the flywheel. Centrifugal force is causing contact I assume the mag is polished as well where it hits.

So so probably need a reglue.

Swapped everything to dual pack ignition, motor picked up rpm and runs clean.

Thanks for the suggestions it is really appreciated.
