23 Action Marine 300x prop selection
Hi all, I’m new to the site but I’ve recently purchased a 23ft action marine with a mercury 300x and a torque master lower. The previous owner had a 23.5 pitch Bravo 1 FS pro and was running 72-73mph. I bought the boat without a prop as he wanted to keep it for another boat, so now I’m trying to figure out what to get. From what I’ve been reading, the FS props are for four stroke engines and the XS props are for two strokes.
I’m looking for advise on prop selection. I’ve found several used 23 pitch Bravo 1 XS props in good condition, but I’m not sure if this is what I should be going with. I’m looking for the best acceleration and the best ride cruising at 50’s-60’s as that will be the bulk of my driving. I do want to be able to go 70+ when need be. Should I be looking for a FS or an XS and should it be 23, 23.5, 24 pitch or anything else?
Everyone’s input is appreciated.

Yes it does. Talking to some people, they have been recommending the 24 pitch FS. Which seems a little odd when the XS is meant for two strokes.

Well seems to me 4 stroke has more bottom torque which gonna take a diff kinda "cup" or rake to hold power but if surfacing prob work gud on 2 stroke and act like a bigger prop , my question to you is ,why r u stuck on a bravo? Why not try sumthin diff

I’m not stuck on it, I just can’t find much information about this engine with this boat and prop selection. I ran it with a 25 trophy and it did well. 71mph top speed, but it did take a little bit to get on plane. I don’t want to start buying and selling props, so I’m trying to narrow it down with what the previous owner ran.
