    decals arrived

I've been overwhelmed with other pressing life issues. But I was able to find the time to install the motor decals a few days ago. I like 'em! I think they were from Garzon studio?

This was a favorite decal set of mine when it came out years ago. I thought it matched my engine to a T. AND, I had obtained some raised evinrude nameplates from a friend with the intention of re-installing them on here. But, as I was handling them, they slipped out of my hand and fell to the wood floor and shattered in many pieces. They were too brittle to go on. So, I got these decals with the evinrude as part of the decal itself.

Damn..meant to tell you to pour some epoxy on the back for strength...
Think it's looks really good as is!
    They were 29 years old?
Easier to wipe down too without them in the way

Oh yeah the third reason..........I wont have a lot of electronics or anything on the boat.........depth finder at best.

And lastly, you don't hear often of the smaller units burning up and melting...............much more so with the 35 unit.

So, is it worth it to purchase the 9 amp or use the 35? All replies welcome, no wrong answer here.
Definately 9 amp if you don't need the extra charge for heavy electronics...less expensive(a lot),more reliable, simpler, lighter, easier on crank,no loose magnets,no burnt regulator from air in water...

Thanks Chris for the input. I was leaning that way, if for nothing else, the imbedded magnets in the flywheel. You just helped me finalize that decision. I also got the rod bolts last week. I did get the motor put together this last week. At least the crank, rods, pistons, and cases are assembled anyways.

No. I bought the 2 +2 reeds from Chris. The #1 and #3 bridge are removed and filed/sanded smooth to create the 2 reed petals instead of 4. Check farther back in this thread where I showed pics of the cage lapping. There should be pics in there of the modified cages.

    had time to prime today

I got some motor parts painted blue today(no pics yet). I still have to do the midsection and belly pan. But that requires me to remove a high port flatback that's already sitting on it. I need to get that running one day. It needs some head bolt holes to get inserts in them. The engine is fresh as far as machining. Its only got about 20 hours? and not hard running either.

But anyways, I got the engine assembled to be able to prime it b4 I left the shop. I hope to paint tomorrow so I can get some powdercoat parts installed. Here's the pre-prime and post-prime with black epoxy.

It just takes so much longer to do that..........clean my hands when I'm building the internals. I've got 2 stroke oil on my hands from lubing the lower bearings(I have them soaking in a shallow bowl as I do each rod/piston assembly. The last thing I want to do is pick up electronics at that point and shoot a pic. I have not had a lot of free time as of late, so I have to choose what's important and when. I wish things were different. It didn't start this way. But life has me in a pressure cooker right now. I'm just doing my best to keep my focus on the important things in life.

I think most of us have been there at one point or another, or several. The storms usually subside.

    moving forward........slowly

I got the engine painted the following day. I am just now getting around to posting here. The intake and exhaust are bolted down. The water jacket covers are just there with a few bolts........for looks right now...........to show what it will look like with the powder coated pieces.Click image for larger version.

ID:	442040I forgot to mention that I used eastwood's 2k black engine paint for the motor. It flowed great and has excellent gloss. Its pricey, but I think I will use it again if I don't have that color I need on hand versus buying more 2k paint.......in larger quantities. 2k paint is rock hard and durable unlike enamel.

Hang in there, things calm sooner or later but like you said focus on the good stuff..if you think about the crap stuff to much you'll lose your mind over stupid small stuff.. concentrate on your work, better it comes out really nice w/o pics!! You'll still have a finished product to look at and it's coming along nice!
If he wants more pics can find others someplace..haha
