    project 18 Skater

I have an 18 skater on an alum. trailer with hyd. steering. I have not been able to to get this project started and bought my son something that was already complete so that he didn't have to wait on me any longer. $1800.00 takes it. These are a very fun stable hull and are what started the Skater line of boats.Click image for larger version.

It took something pretty special to beat them back in the late 70s and early 80s. Low 80 mph with a 235 omc and I don't remember getting beat by any other outboards under 20 feet until 84' when an STV showed up on our lake. Pete has since told me that Alex (his brother) had worked on the 235 and ours was above average "I had no idea being 11 years old".

The pics look good, A’m I correct thinking it needs stringers and transom? As well as interior. 2K seems a good price for a special boat like yours, it must be hard for you to give it up. Do you have a Title in hand?

Its a good deal and I will take what I have in it to someone that will finish it out and not just trash it. Its not rotted, the boat has always been under cover-again why I bought it. Here is the down side, the guy that I got it from was going to make it into a flats boat and took a saw about 3 inches above the rub rail and cut a slice for 6 feet in length before realizing that it should be cut at the rubrail "which he never did". Its not a big deal to glass it back shut "everything is accessible to tape it from the inside as well". I have two or three of the original seat shells (new they had four "back to back" in the front along with two fold down jump seats in the rear).

I was considering a removal of the center pod and converting it into the "S" model which came out in late 82'-they were 7 to 10 mph faster and would run a consistent low 90s. Again, more money, more work, and more time. I have 5 other boats in process and don't need 6.

I have a title and trailer documentation in hand.

$1800.00 I am not doing anything with it but its a great project for someone with an extra 200 hp motor laying around. This is half the cost of a good propeller and you get hyd. steering and a trailer with the boat.
